Venice once again finds a way to bring together art, fashion and design: September 4th is celebrated in Venice 80. anniversary of Safilo Group, the Veneto brand of eyewear that is part of the companies that support the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, a limited edition eyewear Peggy and an event at the Palazzo Venier dei Leoni.
On September 4, Safilo celebrated 80. anniversary of the group with a limited edition eyewear Peggy and an event at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. The Safilo Group is celebrating the eightieth anniversary of the foundation through a remake of Peggy glasses in a limited edition. Designed by the artist Edward Melcarth in honor of the brilliant talent scout in 1994 Safilo Group decides to produce the model named after her.
The new 2014 model incorporates the original silhouette with a new design and new colors in blue and acetate profiles in contrast to brown, on which are placed mirrored lenses: a nonconformist glasses that recalls the colors of the lagoon of Venice, capturing the reflections and atmospheres .
For Peggy Guggenheim Venice was the perfect place, the city of choice. Peggy chose to live there and to donate to the Venetians the most beautiful museum of modern art, his house on the Grand Canal, where they were guests of the greatest artists of the twentieth century.
For the Safilo Group Venice holds the same importance, and the celebrations of September 4, follow events, exhibitions and initiatives in the next two years to strengthen the bond between the brand and the city, ideal for glasses from the original artistic design.
The new eyewear Peggy goes on sale in the museum shop.
